This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to undertake the commissioning and decommissioning of power generation plant and equipment.
Commissioning is a process in which installed power generating plant is tested to verify it functions according to its design specifications. Power generating plant that is shut down and dismantled is decommissioned.Commissioning and decommissioning of power generating plant does not include removal or return to service under normal or routine maintenance situations.
Competency in this unit requires the ability to plan and prepare for work, decommission plant or equipment, remove plant or equipment, recommission plant or equipmentand complete work. Individuals will, in general, work as an operator, in a power generation facility.
Power generation plant operators are typically trained and authorised to isolate, prepare plant and issue permits to work.
No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
